I'd like to try something here and hopefully no one will interpret this the wrong way. I'm also hoping that others will follow suit and share in this "honest" endeavor...

I have the following PianoSoft disks in my collection:

PianoSoft Plus
(00503375) DO IT AGAIN - STEELY DAN
(00503361) MEMORY - STREISAND COLLECTION
(00501973) RHAPSODY IN BLUE / SPELLBOUND - DAVID BUECHNER
(00503304) SELECTIONS FROM A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS
(00503311) THE JAMES BOND COLLECTION
(00501994) SELECTIONS FROM LES MISERABLES

PianoSoft
(00501049) TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS "SING-A-LONG" - P.KEVEREN

Cue Time / Misc.
(00504910) Disney Delights
(00504654) The Christmas Song
(00281310) Best of the Beatles - XG

Many of them, I've either grown tired of or have no interest in keeping them around. So... if anyone is interested, let me know.

NOTE: these are ALL licensed original copies in their original packaging. I have NO intention of creating bootlegs or breaking any copyright laws.

If anything, this thread will show everyone what type of music I like and perhaps it will spark other discussions on the topic of what songs sound good on the CVP and other such opinions.

Do PianoSoft Plus files play on CVP's, or are they only for Disklaviers?

My wife, Becky, is interested in the Streisand; and also the Cue Time Disney and Beatles.

We have a few sealed Yamaha Christmas items that are duplicates for us:

Holiday Gift Set (two diskettes: 10 FollowLights and 10 VocalImpressions, no book)

Yamaha Special Edition of The Christmas Song (5 variations)

Yamaha Special Edition of White Christmas (5 variations)

Palmer,

Yes, PianoSoft disks work beautifully in the CVP but are mostly good for listening only. They don’t display the score nicely since they’re recorded in free tempo and they don’t have lyrics or chord data - BUT - they sound awesome! The PianoSoft Plus titles really exploit the power of the XG voices with full, rich-sounding arrangements.

PS - I've sent you a private e-mail

Dan -

Thanks for your response about the compatibility of PianoSoft titles.
In case there is anybody else out there that hasn't read "CVP for Dummies" yet, Dan's direct e-mail explained that the CVP can play ESEQ files direct off the disk. But you can't copy them to a card, you have to keep digging out the original disks.

I also noticed that YamahaMusicSoft says some of the PianoSoft titles are for use with the matching CD.
Do those play well on the CVP, or are they limited to Disklaviers (which have both a diskette drive and a CD player)?

Re: PEPyle's last post.

Is there really a CVP for Dummies book on the market...?

I would certainly like to see something that explains how to use the wonderful instrument rather than the Yamaha manual that just tells what it can do.

I'm beginning to suspect that the reason I haven't read the book must be that it doesn't exist!

The most helpful thing that I know: read the old messages on this site.

It is a shame that Yamaha isn't of more help, and it has to hurt their sales. For example, the YamahaMusicSoft site doesn't show that any of their merchandise is specifically compatible with the 3XX models. It looks like they haven't updated their compatiblity chart since the 2XX series came out.

I didn't want to accuse you of 'tongue-in-cheek' humour...but I did wonder...!

But I could not let it pass without askiing, I sure could use the help.

Too bad someone does not write a how to book. Judging by the interest in this forum alone, there are a lot of CVP Clavinovas out there.
