Users of the brandnew RD700SX compare it to the P250 (same Grandpianovoice as CLP150 and CVP 305):

"The two main acoustic pianos is where the RD-700SX is really outstanding. It raises the level of piano realism to a height that no digital piano has had to date. Roland has optimzed the 4 layer per key piano samples, same source as those in the Fantom X Ultimate Grand, and set them up to respond to the velocity curve in a way that makes this the most musical digital piano I have encountered. I have owned a Kurzweil PC2X, Kawai 9000 and a Yamaha P250 and the Roland RD-700SX is far superior sounding , in my opinion. "

Has anybody tested this beats yet?

I tested the RD700SX today at my dealers store. The Grandpiano is a bit better than the P250, which I had for two years before my CVP307, but not better than the CVP307 or CLP170. I would say, the best digital Grand Roland has ever made, but not better than Yamahas Top Grand CLP170 or CVP307. For a stagepiano it sounds indeed incredible realistic with its four layers for each tone, but Yamahas CLP170 has five layers for each tone! (CLP150 or P250 has only three).
On the other hand: the epiano isnīt better than the epiano in the P250 or CVP305/307 in my opinion, so if you need to gig and want to have a real good stagepiano it depends, whether you need in addition the drawbarorgan sounds, which are the VK sounds in the RD700SX. The P250 or CLP series doesnīt have drawbar or Organflutes sounds. Thats an advantage of the RD700SX.
Probably Yamaha will bring out a stagepiano one day which includes the organflutes of the CVP series.
At last, the screen of the RD700SX is a joke, itīs very smal and cryptic.
So the ideal stagepiano would be:
Yamaha Grandpianovoice from CLP170
Yamaha Organflutes and epianos
Yamaha GH3 keyboard
Yamaha Tyros screen
and inbuild speakers like in the P250
Go ahead Yamaha!;)
