I'm largely ignorant about the capabilities of midi programs. What I'm looking for is a program that will let me synchronize midi tracks, much like a multi-track audio program does. Often when I do a cover song, I play along with the original audio recording, while at the same time recording my tracks on the Clavinova. Therefore, the individual tracks in the midi are not synchronized with each other - I would like to be able to do this after the fact, on order to have a usable midi. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Pgmusic makes Power Tracks Pro, which is a very economical program that will do what you want. Other programs, such as Noteworthy, Cakewalk, Cubase, also can do these things as the price increases proportionately.

I think at an entry level, Power Tracks Pro has given me more 'utility-value' than any of the others, and I have at least tried most of them, over time. When used infrequently, most of these programs are difficult in the sense that learning curve issues get easily forgotten. So it is helpful to have the most simple interface you can find to help get infrequent projects off and running!

Thanks much, Dale - I'll give those a look! Yes indeed, I am looking for a simple user-interface, to go with my simple mind - LOL! I figure it shouldn't be rocket science - all the program has to do is change the offsets on all the notes and events in the track based on its new starting location.

Does anyone know If there is a MIDI Instrument Definition File for the CVP-307. As I understand, it is used to define what sound to play within the midi file. That way you could use all of the great sounds that are in the 307 by editing existing midi files.
Thanks Mike

I used a MIDI Instrument Definition File with my CVP-75 because the CVP-75 was non-standard MIDI.

I would output standard MIDI to MIDIMapper which would translate the standard MIDI to MIDI commands acceptable to the CVP-75. Thus, by simply selecting whether or not I wanted to go thru MIDIMapper, I could send MIDI instructions to the Clav or my computer speakers thru my sound card.

MIDIMapper with the capability for creating MIDF files came with earlier versions of Windows, but doesn't anymore. However, it may still be available from Microsoft.

Considering, that it's onlly for playing from a computer, you may not want to pursue it. However, if you do and can't find it, shoot me a private and I'll see if I still have it. If so, I'll send it to you.

Cheers.
