I have taken apart my CVP-96 many times, but this is the first time I have disassembled the keys from the keyboard.

I have my CVP-96 completely disassembled on the workbench because something was spilled inside the keys and they were stuck together. I've got it all cleaned out now, but I'm having a little trouble figuring out how to get the keys lined up again. I mean, I obviously know the scale, but there are several of each note name and they have different numbers. For instance:

C 103
C 108
D 110
D 107
B 110 (same as the D!)

And then there are the black notes. The seem to number 101, 102, 103, etc. but they don't have note names on them and there mulitple repeats. In other words there is more than on black 104.

Anyone know the secret of ordering the keys correctly?

OK, Todd. I'm looking at my Service Manual.

First, all of the black keys appear to be identical; they should all be marked "110" and they are completely interchangeable.

The white keys go in the following order referring to the note on the staff:

"20" = C
"30" = D
"40" = E
"50" = F
"60" = G
"70" = A
"80" = B
"90" = the first white key at the left end of the keyboard (A)
"100" = the last white key at the right end of the keyboard (C)

The chromatic scale should be, starting with C:

20, 110, 30, 110, 40, 50, 110, 60, 110, 70, 110, 80, then start again with 20.

Therefore, you should have 7 keys marked "20", 7 keys marked "30", 7 keys marked "40", and so forth.

Does that match what you have??
