Hey All,

I too am new to the cvp world and just purchased a CVP 107.

My question is this: What do i need exactly to simply hook my CVP 107 up to my computer?

and

What program/software do i need to use to just record things I've already recorded on my CVP? (so i don't lose all the sounds and quality to MIDI; in other words, it would sound like it would if i plugged my cvp into a tape deck and recorded onto tape.)

Thank you for your help.

I've had a 96 and currently have a 209, so I'm not sure if everything here applies to a 107, but it could give you some direction.

If you connect to your computer, then play the file on the computer, you are going to get your computer's sound quality, which is typically a lot less than the Clavinova's.

If you want to preserve sound quality, record directly to the device (ie, tape recorder) using LineOut.

If you want a midi file for use on your computer, it's a lot easier to create the file on the Clavinova, save it to the floppy then use the floppy on the computer.

If you still want to create midi files directly on your computer, you will need two midi cables (midi in and midi out), and a sequencer program (like Finale) to receive the input on your computer. Then the sequencer will create the midi file.

Since Clavinovas came out with integrated floppies, as far as I can tell, the midi connection to a computer became superfluous.
