Does anyone now if it's possible to control the way notation is being displayed on the CVP 307?
For some of my downloaded songs the score insists on displaying the melody channel notes on an F-staff (bass) rather than on a G-staff. I want to be able to control this. Is the F or G controlled by a midi instruction in the song itself or is it determined by the CVP in some way?

this won't *quite* give you the control you want but if you hit 'set up' and direct the left AND right to the same channel then the display will use a grand staff and (mostly) properly distribute the notes.

There is nothing in the MIDI spec (that I'm aware of) that controls the notation - other than key signature, time signature and tempo. So it's up to the CVP's internal sequencer to "figure out" which staff to display the notes. As mikemilton points out, the secret is in the setup... There are many threads that discuss the ins and outs of left hand, right hand, tracks and the score display. Here's one that came up recently: http://www.cvpug.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=990
