Question - I have a CVP - 208. I have a vocal harmony disk that has Christmas songs along with special vocal voices. For instance, it has "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" with the Grinch voice (it makes me sound like Mr. Grinch when I sing Karaoke).. Is there a way to just save off the "Grinch" voice, so I can use it with other songs?

Not easily...

The vocal harmony settings are built in to the midi data of the song. The values are specified in system exclusive messages as XG parameters.

If you intend to create sequences on a PC using software like XG Works, you could cut and paste the SysEx messages into your song.

Alternatively, if you want to create a "User" Vocal Harmony type you would need to decipher the SysEx messages by hand and punch the params into the VH Type edit screen. To get an idea of what that entails, crack open your Midi Data List book and look at the XG Parameter list; then load the Grinch song and go to the Digital Song Creator / SysEx page. If your head did not explode yet, you may have a shot at it.

Your best bet is to use a built in VH Type or if you get real ambitious, try editing one and see if you can make sense of any of the parameters.
