I own a CVP-207, purchased from an authorized Yamaha dealer in August 2002. Am I correct that the warranty period is five (5) years?
Even though I have had no issues or problems with my keyboard as of yet (I play as hard on it as anyone around these parts), is it possible that Yamaha would still replace my keyboard with another one to prevent future problems with this unit? What are my chances of my getting them to do this under warranty? Do I have to have an "issue/concern" before they will do this?
Lastly, I am getting some crackling out of my left speaker. Has anyone else had a problem like this? I assume Yamaha would fix a problem such as this for me.
Comments, please from anyone on these issues.
Thanks as always in advance to this fine group.:)

Hi RD...How are things going?
I haven't talk to you for a long time.
Your questions posed the same questions that I was worried about, so I called up Yamaha, and one of the techs said that even if the keyboard needed to be replaced...they would be glad to replace the keyboard's keys....if that's what your talking about...I don't know if it would be free or not.
Also, I am getting cracking on the left side of the stereo speaker too...:(
I did a test by going to a percussion patch, and playing the highest key there...it is a chime that goes from right to left...clearly you can hear cracking into it...so I need to get that issue fixed eventually, cause right now I record on the CVP-207, and then send it to my AW16G digital recorder...using headphones bypasses the speaker's cracking...but now I've got another problem....seems like I was doing a cover song, with the Grandpiano selected, and when I went to record it into the AW16G, I heard certain transcients/distortion whenever a certain dynamic was being applied (forte)...so that's very odd that it would do that even though I set the master CVP volume to 75% and the CVP's patch to 100....and then I was watching the 16G'S meter, and it showed no clipping, but sure enough, when playing it back on a cd, I heard clipping...anybody else have this?
Thanks RD..
Take care, and hope I helped you out...kinda...;)

The warranty is one year on labor, five years on parts. They will not replace parts that are not broken.
So, if you want to have your speaker problem diagnosed, after the one year period, you may have to pay for the tech labor... which might be cheaper if you were to take it into the shop instead of having them come to you. If there is a defect in the 5 year period, they will pay for the part.

In response to golfer48231: No, I have not discovered the source of the cracking (or crackling) of my left speaker in my CVP-207, but I will do some more testing on it based on MMEIER's suggestion using the percussion patch-chime sound.
Also, I will contact Yamaha right away--before my 5-year warranty is up in August 2007, but I don't expect them to offer to replace the entire keyboard since I've never had any trouble with it. The sole reason for my doing this is based on the trouble that others have had, trying to ward off any trouble that I might have with my keyboard in the future; not just to see if I can get Yamaha to do it or something unnecessary like that.
Based on the fact that I've not had any keyboard trouble in 5 years, I do not expect to have any in the future, but this is, of course, an assumption on my part.
Based on my owning my CVP-207 for 5 years, I have very little to complain about. No matter how old it is and how many instruments come out after it, it still will always be a wonderful, extremely reliable instrument to play. I believe it will essentially remain that way.
