Hello. Is this where I introduce myself? :) I'm Julie from the UK and have just (3 weeks ago) purchased a Yamaha CVP305. I've never seen a user group such as this and am really looking forward to getting to know all about you and my new CVP305 :)

Welcome aboard Julie.

Post again and tell us more about yourself, are you an experienced player, etc.

I have a CVP 209 and mostly use it for the piano function, but hope to do more with the help of the folks on this forum.

Hi Ian :) I've been playing since I was about 10. Parents forced me to learn music! Although at the time I hated it, I thank them for making me continue now. I have never had a clavinova before now so i doubt if I would be able to help you with much!

How about yourself?

What kind of music do you play?

I started playing the piano when I was 6 and had 'classical' piano lessons and went through Associated Board exams until I left school at 16.

The DX7 keyboard was launched when I was 18 and I got into using MIDI etc. and spent a small fortune on other Yamaha products (TX7, RX11, CX5M - who remembers these?) Once I had my DX7, I launched a career as an international pop star and the rest as they say is history..............

Well most of this is true - can you guess which bit might have been a dream!!?

After giving Yamaha all my money, I got married and had 2 kids and had to sell all the Yamaha gear to make ends meet!!

20 years later having saved up a few pennies again, I bought a CVP209. Last year I went to a Yamaha weekend and got chance to play the 309. You can probably guess what happened next. Yes, I am broke again but at least I have got a 309.

When I bought the 209 I started to play Jazz piano and now play for a couple of hours everyday and I am having lessons from a pro jazz pianist. Perhpas there is still time for a career as an international megastar!!

Hiya Howard :) I like to play anything that's easy! Hehe! I did exams too, through The Royal London College of Music till I was about 15. For my 16th birthday, my parents bought me a Yamaha FE50 organ (remember them??!) and my mom still has it! Its 20 years old and still sounds incredible. From there, like you, I got though many Yamaha (and other brand) keyboards but always 'outgrew' them if you know what I mean.

Then someone introduced me to the CVP series and I fell in love. I never heard the Tyros...since having children, I kinda lost touch with the world of pianos and keyboards. But now that they are older and are at high school, I find I have time on my hands, which is why I suddenly felt the need to start playing again :)

Did you find your credit card? I need to find mine too! lol.
