I would like to setup a flat-panel computer screen on my CVP305 and use it to display scanned sheet music, using a footpedal (probably separate from the CVP) to "turn" the pages. Has anyone else tried this? Any hardware or software suggestions to accomplish this? Thanks to any and all responders!

Hi

Great idea. I am sure there are a hundred and one ways to do this.

The first to spring to mind so to scan each page of a song and create a slide show using Power Point. Run the slide show and each click of the mouse / pedal switch will selecte the next slide / page. You could even get Power Point to make a transition between pages that looks like it is being turned.

This can also be done in Adobe Reader. Just select "Full Screen" Ctrl L and click the left mouse to go forward a page and the right mouse to go back.

As for the pedal / switch, you could piggy back a foot switch on to the contacts of an old mouse.

This is why I play by ear - LOL!

Sounds like a pretty cool idea, though!

Dear elliottpd

There is a commercial product out there - MusicPad Pro - basically a dedicated flat panel LCD computer with software and memory for storing scanned sheet music. It has a foot pedal, mark-up capability and it also supports Sibelius, Finale, etc. for sheet music download. A little pricey, though, at $1200.

Take a look: http://www.freehandsystems.com/

to Midi Magic: thanks for the ideas, I will be investigating PowerPoint and the PDF option further.

to kp88keys: thanks for the link to MusicPad. It is very cool. But is indeed too pricey for me. I need to use my existing computer for storage and running the software, and if I proceed with this, I'd like to get a screen that could also be moved to the computer if needed.
