Anyone have a lead for me on where to get a replacement floppy drive for my CVP-65 ??? The drive finally died after twelve years. Or show me a link to a site that discusses how to replace with a PC-style floppy drive? It is not a one-for-one plug and play, I can tell ya that for sure. Thanks in advance for the help!!

Just for the heck of it I looked on Ebay. None are for sale but a couple of people have listings looking for one in the "I Want It Now" section. So you are not alone. I looked at the manual on the Yamaha web site and it describes it as a PC compatible floppy. Are the pins on the harness different than a PC floppy? Maybe if you take it out and go to a PC repair place they may be able to match something up?
Have you tried checking with your local Yamaha music dealer?

I think this was discussed once before.
The first thing to do would be call Yamaha and see what they have to offer.

From what I remember, that floppy drive is not the type used in modern PC's but is an older Mitsubish drive, the type used in PC XT 286 's. You could check the model number if you can get to it and do a Google search to find one. If that's a dashboard mount as opposed to under the keyboard, getting it out could be a problem without a service manual.

Thanks for the posts. You are right in that it is a "older PC compatible" floppy, but if my memory serves, some of the signals are inverted - such as the signals that proclaim 'floppy present' - and I have all the full Yamaha schematics and have been building and repairing computers for 30 years.
But I thought there might be an "off-the-shelf PC floppy drive" that has a trick to it that would make it easier to replace. For instance the 'standard' cvp-65 floppy drive does not have a "High-density sensor" and assumes all the floppies are the "standard 720" format, as opposed to our normal present day expectation of 1.44mb floppies.
Yamaha is closed for the holidays - I already got that message back. So I can wait.
And while I am typing, I seem to remember that the old Amiga computer had a inverted signal that may be what I need. I will check - I have an Amiga here in the shop.
Thanks - and Merry Christmas!

Found the following statement with a Google search....
"The floppy drive for my Yamaha Clavinova CVP-75 Electric Piano has stopped working. It's a Mitsubishi MF353C-152MZ. Any suggestions on where I can buy one of these, or an alternate one? Thanks."
I think that might be the same drive used by the CVP65, unfortunately there was no answer to the question. A while back when this first came up, a Google search came up with lot of discussion about this particular drive but most of it seems to be gone. If memory serves it was a peculiar belt driven drive with some crazy jumper options, so you might have to stick with finding one like it.
Also there is the possiblity that the operating system for the CVP65 may not recognize anything other than the 720 format.
Anyway good luck, hope the Amiga drive fits the bill.
