I ran across a a setting in "Music Finder" called "Dancing Queen" it's "Disco Philly1 with 4/4/ & 104. It has an intro that I recall hearing at the beginning of a News Program. It could have just been local but maybe National too. I did a Midi search for the "Dancing Queen" and found a tune by Abba, but I don't think this was it. Is there anyone out there that can help me identify this. I would like to at least try to learn this. It's driving me nuts. It seems to be one of those songs that just will not go away. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Yes, I know DISCO....

Yes, it is the Abba song. It appears that Yamaha made the list of most of the tunes from about 3 different fake books. I have the Hal Leonard Best Fake Book Ever with over 1,000 songs. As far as I can see (I have spot checked a 100 or so) every song in that Fake Book is on the music finder list. And the Dancing Queen song in that Fake Book is the Abba one. So I'm pretty sure that's it. [Plus I don't think you can copyright two songs with the same name??] And Abba was/is a lot of disco, especially that particular song, so it fits the style.

Yours for $4.50:

Dancing Queen (XF) (http://www.yamahamusicsoft.com/index.php?action=ProductDetail&product_id=1024484)

I bought a copy if your interested in "sampling" it.
And no, I'm not gay (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Send me a PM (dcaputi 'at' optonline 'dot' net)

I just went and played the intro on that style. It's certainly NOT from Dancing Queen (although the other parts work for Dancing Queen).

It's a 70s instrumental disco song by Love Unlimited Orchestra. Here's a link to a midi file: "Love's Theme" (http://midistudio.com/Lounge/midi/lovesthm.mid)

Yeah, I remember some sports show or golf coverage using that as the opening theme song.

Love's Theme was Barry White's first big hit that propelled him to a superstar. It was number one for a long time around '73 or '74 so if you were at least 10 years old at that time and listened to the radio you probably heard it a million times.

Love's Theme is also in the aforementioned fake book, AND it is also listed in the music finder using the same style, same intro, and same main section as Dancing Queen.
