Do you have the latest firmware update?

To use IDC your firmware must be ver 1.56

To find your version:
Hit Function/Utility/Owner tab
Hold the owner name button down for about 4 or 5 seconds and your version will appear.

I visited the website and the lastest version I can seem to download is 1.55 which is currently on my system
The SSID on my router is set to "default" and I assume I have to enter those word into the CVP309 as well as the channel which is currently "6". The USB-LAN does not even light when inserted into the USB port of the piano but does so when connected directly to my computer USB port. Any Ideas?

Yes. 1.55 will work. When you finally do get hooked up you will be able to upgrade to 1.56 through IDC.

Yes, there are a number of pieces of information you have to enter into the CVP, to make sure the settings on the CVP match the router.

Yamaha has a very good video instruction on their website that walks you through the hookup step by step. But it's kind of hidden. Go to:

http://music.yamaha.com/services/idc/setUp.html

and click on the word "wireless" that has a small icon of a filmstip next to it.

It's very good, but you must follow carefully step by step.

Also - if you have any security settings on your Wi-Fi you need to make sure the CVP can "get in". For instance if you have MAC filtering set you will need to enter the MAC # of the CVP wireless adapter into the router.

Atwarp,

As a matter of interest, what is the manufacturer and type of USB- LAN Link you refer to? I suspect that it's not compatible with IDC, because you say:The USB-LAN does not even light when inserted into the USB port of the piano

You can check whether your adapter is listed on the Yamaha site: http://music.yamaha.com/services/idc/USB.html.

Be aware that a large proportion of currently available adapters are not listed on that page and are therefore not compatible!. Sorry, but the only way out is to try to find one on that list.
