I just upgraded firmware to 1.55 for my CVP305. The website states that it can play audio streams. Any idea what this means? It does not recognize an MP3. Would oit be for WAV files?

The website states that it can play audio streams Which website was this? The official Yamaha site for firmware 1.55 http://music.yamaha.com/products/downloads.html?productId=101 doesn't say anything about audio streams.

The CVP series cannot play MP3 or WAV files, however you can record the output from the instrument on a CD recorder or a computer in MP3 or WAV format. Many other posts on this forum can tell you how.

This is from the official Yamaha site. This what they say with the download:\Nieuwe functies
1. Songopnamefunctie in de notatiedisplay.
2. Toegenomen aantal compatibele LAN-adapters.
3. Afspelen van audiostreams.
4. Op afstand instellen van de toetsinstrumentinstellingen via de IDC-webbrowser.
5. Afspelen van in html ingebedde MIDI-bestanden.
It is in dutch, but item 3 says playing of audio streams.
In tye meantime I have discoverd that the same site in English doesn't mention this.
Strange.
So, I take it can't. It would be a nice feature. I'm sure the processor in the unit could support it.

Must be a bad translation English to Dutch.

Die vertaler had geen idee waarover hij schreef. :-)

Kind regards

Hi!

Interestingly, the Danish site has the exact same thing as the third point! So it's not the Dutch translator - they must both be working from the same list actually produced by Yamaha (perhaps it started with an incorrect translation from Chinese to English?).

The English site doesn't have those five points (only two), but I do remember seeing them in English before. I recognise the other 4, but not the audio streaming one. I remember there was more talk of IDC when I first saw those five points. If I think hard, I think the third point was that in IDC, when listening to demos of songs to purchase, it could play them streaming, rather than wait for the whole MIDI file to load. (I don't think it was streaming MP3 or WAV. Anyway I have 1.5.5 and I haven't seen anything related to streaming audio in there)
