View Full Version : Clavinova "events" at your dealer?

Speaking of purchase experiences, when I bought my CVP the salesman tried to convince me that they sometimes hold events for their customers. As an example, he mentioned when a Yamaha techie is in town to train employees, sometimes they invite customers to come and get product tours and ask questions and such. I was excited at the possibility of such "events," but skeptical that this was probably a vaporous service add-on he was using to smooth out the price I paid. Of course, other than a courtesy call a few days after delivery, I have not had any contact with my dealer, by mail or my phone.

When I visited my dealer last weekend to ask about software (music w/ disks), I mentioned what my dealer had described and that I haven't heard anything from them. Were there any such "events" recently? I asked. The salesperson I was talking to responded, "Well, there was the Clavinova festival..."

Clavinova festival?!? There was a Clavinova festival and I wasn't invited?!?

Maybe she was talking about a sales event and not a gathering of CVP users and experts, and once again I didn't think to ask enough follow-up questions. (I'm terrible with salespeople, I don't know why.) There is an annual sales event they do where Yamaha pianos loaned temporarily to a local university are sold at a discount, not sure if that's what she was referring to. Thinking that maybe they do send out notices and I was just mistakenly omitted from their database, I wrote my info on a scrap of paper and asked them to keep me informed.

So tell me, what does your dealer do for post-sale support? Have there been Clavinova festivals in your area? Do you get to schmooze with travelling Yamaha experts?
