I have had my CVP-107 for 5 or so years and worked great until about 2 days ago. While playing the piano it startring making loud popping noises by itself. It sounds like the fireworks sounds, but louder. Something must have short circuited.

Any thoughts? Plus who/how do I get a Clavinova replaired? Who do you call? Are their registered repair people for stuff like this? Does Yamaha have a repair place where I can take it to?

I live in Walnut Creek California (Northern California).

Thanks.

Paul,

Try contacting your closest Yamaha dealer and ask them for the name and number of their authorized repair technician. If you don't have a dealer reasonably near you, you can try calling 1-800-Yamaha (that used to be a number that worked).

FYI, I can't remember if the warranty on Clavinova's is 3 or 5 years on parts, but since you said it has been about 5 years, you might want to get on this right away to see if they will still cover you on the part(s) that will be needed.

As for the cause of the problem, I'm not sure.

Any Yamaha dealer should be able to give you the name of the nearest authorized repair technician. The warranty is one year on labor, five years on parts.

Please let us know what the problem was and how you made out with the service.

Maybe it is time to think about trading up?

Good luck. Hope it is not too costly.
