View Full Version : Piano samples in 207 vs. 209

I think I read that the 209 has more memory dedicated to the piano samples. Has anyone heard the difference between the two? The Yamaha salesman told me the main reason the 209 was about $1000 more than the 207 was due to the glossy black cabinet. I'm wondering if the piano sound a lot better or if it's just a little better.
Thanks,
Bob

Bob,
After literally weeks of trying to decide which CVP to get it came down to the 207 & 209.
I spent hours at our local dealer (making them crazy with questions) trying out the two models. I finally bought the 207 - just last week. My friend just got the 209 two days ago.
Though Yamaha (and the dealers) will tell you that the sampling rate for the 209 is slightly higher, which is true, even the difference to the trained ear will be negligible at best.
It will all depend on your personal taste, and of course where the instrument will be located. Different sized rooms will have an obvious effect on the sound.
After experimenting with my friend's 209 for a few hours, I am satisfied that I made the right decision to go with the 207 and saved a lot of money - I have to say the black finish is gorgeous but I am thrilled with my 207!
Hope that helps!
Dave

Thanks for the reply!
I agree, the 207 is plenty awesome for my ears! What a great instrument.
I bought my 207 last week and I'm loving it.
