Hello,

I am new to this group and this is the first time I am posting a thread. My question revolves around purchasing. I am trying to get the best price for a CVP307 for my three children with keeping in line with Yamahas purchasing practices. The pricing is a bit high for me right now and I only one dealer in the area to choose from. I really would like to purchase from them, but without at least having another dealer around to bounce off of, I will ask all of you what to do. I have tried calling other dealers from other states, but nobody will talk to me over the phone. This is frustrating to say the least. Price given is about 7.3K. I can only, based on financial situation do something around 6K.

Has anyone from this group ever purchased a CVP from Michigan before? or has anyone went to another close State to purchase one, or even via mail?

What are each of your recomendations for me?

I am reading in this group that some people have purchased a new CVP for 5K or a little bit more? Is that true without invalidating any warranty with Yamaha?

I guess in short, I just may not have enough to do this for the Children.

All three of my children ages, (8,6 and 6) have been learning music under a Yamaha sponsered program call the Yamaha Music Education System, Junior Music program. The oldest has been playing for almost 3 years now and the twins for a couple. They are doing quite well and do play on older Clavinovas at the school. We currenly have one acoustic piano and a less expensive Yamaha keyboard ($500.00).

Any input to hopfully get me over the hill would be greatly appreciated.

Also, feel free to give me other advise about Music for my children. I am a true believer in this period.

Thanks To All In Advance.

George

Hi George. Here are some clips of info from CVPUG members:

"Those prices make me feel pretty good about spending the 4995 for my CVP-307. pianogirl (Missouri)"

"A local dealer in Connecticut had priced the CVP-307 at $6,195. Wished the price was in the low 5k which seems to be what the majority of people are paying."

"cvp 307 arriving on wed. Oh Baby!!
Having been thinking about it for a year or so, i decided to get one. Living in NYC, what with Frank and Camilles monopoly, i was a little concerned. Following the advice here, it was actually very easy. $4995, $540 shipping. Ordered on the 6th, arriving on the 18th."

I would print out these messages and take them in to your dealer. Tell him you need something closer to these prices and if he/she can't help you, turn around and walk out the door. Having it shipped to you from an authorized dealer has no affect on the warranty. They are very easy to assemble.

Good luck George. I could have bought it a lot cheaper in Canada with US funds but US dealers won't honor the warranty. You'd have to travel it back to Canada, or pay a technician US $$ if you have a problem.

Has anyone ever had a problem with one of these instruments? The only thing I've actually heard about is broken keys.

agree with kemp.
you gotta be nice, but firm.
tell the guy, i know i can get this for XXX, anyday of the week. I want to shop locally, with you.

compromise.
my net was 5550.

i would have paid 5700, or perhaps 5800, locally, i guess.

The problem is i HATE haggling.
hate it
hate it.

i get the price and if i can afford it, i buy it.
otherwise , no.
car salespeople absolutely love me.

linjon and kempedkemp,

Thanks to the both of you so far for your comments, advice and assistance. I will try this as to the extent possible. I have one question though. If I cannot get anywhere with the only dealer in town (Detroit). Who out there will talk to me about selling me a CVP307 via the mail?

I will keep you all informed as to my progress.

Thanks again and lets keep the dialog going.

George
