i use the cvp 209. i have made a floppy of songs using the 16 channels for each song. i want to take the floppy into a studio for further mixing. how can i reproduce the exact sounds? do i tell the engineer in the studio that that our gm voice bank starts with 0? what else can i tell him about each voice and style so he can get the right sounds using his studio equipment. finally, can i convert the floppy into wav files? how? thanks, gabyforrell@hotmail.com

Take a look at this website: www.pgmusic.com

I believe they have a program that will render MIDI to Wave.

Hi

how can i reproduce the exact sounds?

The ONLY way to reproduce the exact sounds is to record the CVP's audio. What you have on your floppy are a set of instructions in the "midi" format. These will instruct any midi keyboard, sound module or computer to play the sounds IT has and NOT the sounds of the CVP. Your floppies do NOT contain sounds, only commands to play sounds. Yes, it will play a piano, trumpet, etc but the computer's piano is nothing like the piano within the CVP.

If the studio has a CVP then great, if not, you will only get the sounds he has.

If you convert midi to a wave file then again you will only get the sounds of the PC's sound card and not the CVP.

In both cases above you will loose the cvp's sounds as only a cvp has "Sweet", "Live" "Natural" sounds.

However, if you only used GM or GS voices then it should sound pretty close, depending on how good the studio's sound cards are.
