Hi, it is nice to have a modern forum. So thanks very much!

In a few minor items...

1) The site seems slow. I am using it at midnight EST. When I am on the home page, and I click on one of the discussions, it takes 3-5 seconds for anything to happen. Similar slow speeds happen when I go to other parts of the site. The overall speed seems significantly slower than other PHP-based forums I've used. And right now there are only 3 members and 1 guest on line.

2) The procedure, described at the old Yahoo Groups site, to get the password for the new site, is confusing. You might want to try again, with a step-by-step example. Just a thought.

3) How do I change my username here at the new site? My old Yahoo Groups username was my Yahoo mail address. I'd like to get away from that. I saw how to change my password here at the new site, but I didn't see how to change the username.

4) It would be nice to have a picture of a Clavinova as part of the graphics; either on the blue/silver menu bar at top or at least on the home page. If someone wanders into here, they can get a quick visual idea of what a Clavinova is. (Examples: it is not a portable keyboard, it is not a clavinet.) While I like PHP forums, it would be nice for them to have a bit less type and a bit more graphics.

5) I second the message about having Smilies which are Clavinova-specific (e.g., triangle buttons etc.). I think that is a terrific idea.

6) Will downloads, photos, etc. currently at the old Yahoo Groups site, be automatically moved over here? If not, who should move them. What happens if the original person who uploaded them no longer checks the CVPUG site -- maybe they don't even know about the move. Do the downloads, photos, etc. then disappear?

Once again, many thanks for your hard (and unpaid!) work in creating the new forum. The items above are small potatos compared with the significant improvement this represents. Kudos!

Not sure what the issue was there. Let me know if that kind of behavior happens often. It should not. The server is a top-grade Dual Pentium III 1.3 Ghz with 1 Gig of RAM server with low percentiles for resource usage. Most probably, the issue might have been internet network traffic problems on the hops between your location in Florida and the data center where the server is currently located in New Jersey.

Valid comment. Maybe Wally will post something that may reduce such confusion.

The system does not allow you to change your username, but if you PM me with a special request as to what you'd like your new username to be, I can attempt to manually edit the database itself. There may be problems/issue even then.

4) It would be nice to have a picture of a Clavinova as part of the graphics; either on the blue/silver menu bar at top or at least on the home page.

What photo, what piano, what size photo (too small it's no good, too big and it takes up too much space), and where to put it are issue sto be considered.

But your point is well-taken. Even a simple piano icon or log would do much to tell new visitors this website is about pianos and piano users.

5) I second the message about having Smilies which are Clavinova-specific (e.g., triangle buttons etc.). I think that is a terrific idea.

Agreed.

Personally, it'd be best if the owners/donors of those files and photos, resubmitted them here. But at some point, Wally and I will review the old site and determine what he'd like to salvage and move over here, if it had not been moved over already.

Thanks for your kind words. While I am glad to be of assistance, Wally deserves great credit and congratulations for his many years of invaluable service and dedication to the CVP/CLP community.

Hi Sean & Patrick

I have to agree that this site is very SLOW. Much slower that Yahoo Groups and slower than SynthZone and other BBS Forums that I read. I don't know why, but I thought I would confirm this.

Also, Patrick is right about the password instructions being confusing. I finally figured it out after 3 tries. Maybe Wally should send another email to the users with more explicit directions.

Thanks for listening and your hard work here.
