Today I turned the power on my 303 and the screen is real dim. You can just barely make out the screen. I turned the dial to change the brightness...no change.
Then I went into the utilities and tried the brightness slide there...still nothing. Everything else seems to work.

Other than calling for service....any suggestions of something else to try?

I bought it in February 2005, so it should have some sort of warranty service on the 5yr. warranty. I bet diagnostic, labor and trip charges are gonna be expensive.

Thank You for any suggestions.

How close are you to Hagerstown? Try Taylor Keyboards there. Where did you buy it? May be cheaper for you to take it back there for service.

That's where I bought the 303. Wonderful place.

I called Mr. Taylor and he gave me the number for the certified Yamaha technician he uses. I am waiting for a call back. The technician is in PA. and is the certifed Yamaha tech for the quad state area. I trust Mr. Taylor's judgement on this and I sure hope it is a simple fast repair/part replacement.

My LCD unit had to be replaced. It took over a month for it all to get resolved. Yamaha wouldn't release the part until I did a restart system. The communication wasn't very good. This is why it took so long. Once th restart failed to correct the problem, it only took 2 weeks.

Today when the tech came (from PA.) he said he had seen this on another CVP and it was a loose wire on the board. Sure enough when he opened the piano up, there was a short white wire standing straight up. It looked like a solder had broken. He said that Yamaha has changed design of the part so it shouldn't happen again. I was also told the part was $250.00. Fortunately I still had the parts warranty. Only had to pay for labor & travel. Still it was quite a chunk a change, but at least I can enjoy playing the piano again.
