Thanks very much, Danny! I don't use styles very often, but may just have to play with these over the holidays.

Thanks Danny. If I look at the weather it seems more like summer, but I still got in the Christmas mood.

My computer didn't recognize the extensions. So...when I clicked on them, it asked me for an extension...Is there an extension I could change it to that would work?

Thanks!

Hi

As I understand it, you have downloaded the Christmas file by right click and "Save Target As"

This is a zip file which needs to be unzipped, Windows XP has a built in unzip program. Right click on the zip file and choose "Extract All"

Now you should have a new folder with all the style files in. These files have an extension of .sty

"My computer didn't recognize the extensions." Well put it this way, these are Style files for the CVP and not for the PC.

The PC does not know anything about styles, that is why it does not know what .sty means.

There are programs about, that will play the styles on a PC but these are used to create or change styles. Look here:

http://www.svpworld.com/util_styleplay.htm
http://www.svpworld.com/util_stylemaker.htm
http://www.svpworld.com/util_styleupdater.htm

This is also a useful program to manage the Music Finder files.

Just copy the style files to a floppy and load them into the CVP.

Style files are just midi files. So, If you realy want to play them on your PC then just change the extension from .sty to .mid

Hi Midi Magic,

I have just joined the CVP Users, and it was a real treat to find your style files. Thanks heaps!

Now you mentioned that "Style files are just midi files... " Does that mean I could use a porgram like Band-in-a-Box to create rhythm sections and that by changing the extension to .STY, they would play like style files (and follow left-hand chords?)

Or maybe I should just try it, I guess I can't break anything?

If this works, then I can literally create hundreds of cool styles from my Band-in-Box library.

No!

Yamaha style files are MIDI files indeed; but part markers have to be added; all must be recorded in CMaj7; additional sections (e.g. CASM) have to be added etc.
