View Full Version : How to replace "black" keys on CLP-350

My old Yamaha clavinova CLP-350 has developed two 'sticky' keys, which only return slowly up after playing (the F# and A# below middle C). I've now got a copy of the service manual, and ordered two black keys (for £1 (ish) each). So far this is a cheap but looks like it may be a somewhat fiddly job?

I'd be grateful for any tips and advice on how I go about replacing the black keys as the Service manual seems a wee bit thin on this procedure.

TIA

How are the keys held in place/attached?

//How are the keys held in place/attached?//

Gravity and correct positioning mostly.

It's the "key spring" that ultimately appears to be holding everything in place.

Once the "key spring" had been removed the white keys came away relatively easily (bottom end first) and slid out. To describe the end as "snapping" or "clicking into place" would be overstating it a bit. However, one of the black keys was a bit more stubborn (the A#), in releasing from the bottom end. But this may have something to do with the fact that it was also the key that tended to "stick" the most.
