I am interested in buying a CVP 208 and glad to see that there are discussion forums on the subject. One question I have at this stage is regarding the price (around USD 5'000 for a new one - is it reasonable for Europe ?), and another is about possibilities:
Did someone already test composition and scanning functions, compatibility with softwares like Finale or Vivaldi ?

I believe Europe prices are almost always cheaper than the US - Dunno where you live, but if it's Europe I wouldn't bother looking to the US :)
On the other hand, if you're in the States, you should look around for several dealers, including Canadian ones.. you might be able to find a good deal.. I got a CVP very recently for about $4000

Bought a CVP 208 from www.singingchicken.co.uk at a great price they also have another website: www.musicalinstrumentmegastore.co.uk
I think they sell into Europe.
They gave me a great price, good service and would get my recommendation.
Hope that helps.
