Hi all ! Happy to join the CVP Users community ! :)

I just bought a CVP-305 (I previously owned a CVP-205) and I would like to upgrade the firmware to the version 1.7.

The problem is that I don't know and can't read the current version of the firmware installed on the instrument (through the Function/Utility/Owner as indicated in the doc). There is absolutely no mention of it... :(

So, my question is: how to know the current version installed, and by the way, is it possible to upgrade the firmware safely and directly from version 1.x to version 1.7 ?

Thank you for your answer(s).

To check the improvements of version 1.6 and 1.7 and to see instructions how to check your version, download the 'additional firmware information' zip file from: http://music.yamaha.com/products/downloads.html?productId=101

I think you can upgrade from any 1.xx version to 1.7 as it isn't stated anywhere that you can not. The latest releases had no improvements worth mentioning but of course that's just my opinion.

Fine, thank you for answer.

I have no Smartmedia card, so do you think it is possible to use an usb key, instead, to proceed ?

I could update using a usb key from version 1.55 to 1.6, previous versions didn't work with a usb key (hey... so that was a great improvement, despite what I said before). So I guess it depends on your current version.

Ironic isn't it, that you may have to go through the trouble of getting a Smartmedia card only to use it once to update your firmware.
