Lilypond

Has anyone tried lilypond?

I've been playing with it for some time now and it seems *far* superior than Finale in respect of the printed output and the overall quality of the notation.
This notion, however, may be biased because I haven't tried Sibelius or any other notation software....

What's the general and best opinion regarding to this?
Any recommendations for notation?
