Hi, I am new here.
I have CVP305 since 2004.
For upgrading firmware, I got hold of Smart Media card just last week, but my Smart Media card appears to be broken.
Parts are under warranty but labor is not.

Do you know how hard it is to replace Smart Media card reader by myself???
My husband builds PC himself and he has EE degree, so messing with electronic device is not new to him.

I hate to take it to dealer and have it out of commission for few weeks because my daughter needs it for daily practice.

Looking for good advice!
Thanks,
-Kazy

Just guessing, but these things usually snap in and out pretty easily if you can figure out how to open up the instrument and get to it. I don't think they will just give you the part or take your word that something is wrong with it though.

Good luck.

You are correct.
Someone has to come out and verify card reder failuer. = site visit fee.
Then, that someone has to install the parts = labor.

I am starting to think it's not worse the trouble to go through repair.

I registered my Clavinova on Yamaha web site last week.

Today, I recieved the package from them with USB Net adoptor and Smartmemory Card with firmware upgrade!!!!!
My Clavinova was able to read it fine!!!
It is now upgraded!!!

I don't know why PC formatted card was not read by my CVP305.....?????

Anyways, kudo to YAMAHA!!!!!
