Hi Wally
I see we have a new look and it is very nice; however, it overfills my computer screen.
Is there anything I can do to tweak it so that it does not do that...?
Ian
You could try using a smaller font size.
Internet Explorer defaults to 'medium'. You can change it through a menu, or by holding the Ctrl key and using the scroll wheel on your mouse.

It seems that a lot of forums have a new look these days. I guess this one isn't too bad, but I don't like the pale blue used for the threads and top contributors on the homepage.
I also doubt if all top posters appreciate being mentioned on the homepage. Maybe I should stop posting to avoid appearing there :D.

Thanks Jane
The scroll wheel function works just fine. Glad you're on board<GRIN>

Hi Eric
Now that you mention it I do not like the pale blue font either, too hard on these old eyes. I was too concerned with the screen over-ride I did not give enough attention to the rest of the format.
I hope that Wally will improve the colour scheme.

It looks great to me! No problems with colors, legiblilty or text size. In fact, it is much easier on the eyes than the old forum. Thanks for your work in updating it!

Hi!
I don't like the blue banner either. To me it looks too boring and non-descript. Perhaps if there was a translucent keyboard on it or something.

The software we were using for the CVPUG was getting a little bit outdated. Sean (our webmaster) and I discussed it and felt that moving to an updated version might give us more security control over spammers, so we decided it was time to upgrade. Frankly, I think Sean did an awesome job with moving everything over and getting it to work properly.
Just keep adding your comments about the new web site in this forum. Sean will take a look here to see what kind of feedback we're getting. Thanks for your help!

Now that you mention it I do not like the pale blue font either, too hard on these old eyes.
Working with blue site templates can sometimes be difficult. If you use dark blue for links, sometimes it looks too much like black and is not discernable enough. If it's too light a blue, it gets difficult to read. Sometime violet/purple links work well with blue templates. I'll see what I can do.
I don't like the blue banner either. To me it looks too boring and non-descript. Perhaps if there was a translucent keyboard on it or something.
The technical issues in upgrading the vBulletin system and attaching it to a new front-end publishing system that was at least modestly similar color-scheme-wise were very complicated and very time-consuming.
I am very pleased that the feedback is about colors and the page header graphics, not that the site is broken and worse than before. I don't disagree that the page header could use improvement or that the link colors could be better. I will look into both shortly, as time allows.
Keep the feedback coming. I read it and appreciate it all.
Thanks much!

Hi!
Indeed, the site is working perfectly (except for the auto login), and though you said there is functionality missing, I have yet to find any. Everything needed is there (once you import the FAQ). A rarely successful migration I would say! Kudos to you.

Hello!
Maybe it is just a detail, but I would prefer to find the login and password fields in the home page, as was in the previous version of the site.
Is there any reason (e.g. security) that justifies their being moved elsewhere?
If so, I agree on the choice.
:)
Just to know.
For the rest, I appreciate the new look of the site.
Thank you.

I have a "Login Box" for the Main Page, but it fails under testing. It doesn't work consistently. The cookies do not seem to hold. Or they only work sometime.
I am no master of cookies and can't seem to figure it out. Cookies can be quite cranky. I had to put it on the back burner while I dealt with the more important overall conversion issues. I have to go back and look into it, possibly posting messages in support forums for the software we're using here, to see if I can debug it.

Hey Sean,
I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.1 and have no problems with the auto log-in. I just had to delete the old cookie, log in 1 time and it works fine. Having dealt with html, php, javascript, mySQL, etc myself I know how difficult and time-consuming it can be to tackle this (for every platform and browser). I don't have a solution either, but hope you'll solve this soon. Hmmm, maybe everybody should just use Firefox ;)!
Regarding the colors: everyone has a (slightly) different perception of colors and also every monitor displays colors in a different way, but the pale blue still is too pale. Maybe change the #0099ff color to something darker (like #00378d) and change the hover state to something lighter?
But no other comments, it looks and works fine. It's just like someone said on another forum: you expect to come home and find that all the furniture has moved and all colors are different. You have to get used to it!

Gee I don't check in for a few days (weeks?) and this is what happens!?
Looks great!

P.S. - I don't mind my name on the home page ;)

Hi!
Once you log in, you get an additional item in the heading bar called New Posts. Which works fine - once you've been able to log in. Please tell me that you don't get logged in automatically either. Only two of us have complained about that, and I've even gotten some form of sarchastic reply from MikeinNC (http://www.cvpug.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2010), so I'm feeling terribly lonely and put down on in this matter.

Hi
Auto login is working fine now.
I noticed I had two cookies in the cookies folder:
my_user_name@cvpug[1].txt
and
my_user_name@www.cvpug[2].txt
After deleting BOTH, things seem to work fine.

No, Auto login does not work here either.
I run a program called "Cookie Wall" and have deleted the old cvpug cookie and added the new one. So we will have to see if that works....................
Still no Auto login. I have even disabled Zone Alarm and Cookie Wall, but still no joy.

Hi Jorgen
Unlike some other boards that we frequent, this one works perfectly for me. Autologin is always functioning and the New Posts button works great! I wish the other forums could work and look this good.

When I manually delete all cookies realted to cvpug.com I have to log in manually. This is OK.
At the next visit Auto login works.
But at the following visits Auto login does not work.
Very annoying sytem!

Hi
Just to let you know, I have deleted all of the cookies and now Auto-Login works ok.
Auto logon works for me with no problems.
One thing you might check... is your IP address changing radically?
I ask this, because a few days ago my ISP was bouncing me around from one radically different IP (74.x.y.z) to another (64.x.y.z) to another (24.x.y.z)
Each time I wound up with a different address, my automatic logon to some of the forums I use didn't remember me.
Perhaps because I don't check here as frequently, I didn't experience it here.
Perhaps there are some settings in the board's configuration that determine what it looks for in order to 'recognize' somebody?

I love the new look...even though I wasn't adverse to the old way. Thanks for taking seriously the issue of porn. I for one really appreciate it.
The UG is so sleek. I hope that the program I am developing can use such good looking forum.

I use Firefox 1.5.0.9. Today, autologon does not work. I had to manually re-enter my name & pasword. I hope it will stay in there. It's really nice when autologon works properly.

My Auto Login does not work either. I use Internet Explorer 6. I have deleted the two cookies, but still the Auto Login does not work. Help
Also even though I logged in the spot next to my user name did not light up green. When I clicked on it, it idicated that I was offline.

I usually avoid IE but just tried to login (IE 6.0): no problem with the auto log-in.
Once you log in, you get an additional item in the heading bar called New Posts.
However, I don't see this item, not in IE nor Firefox. Should it be on the homepage or on the forums page?

Hi!
If the login has worked, you should have
"User CP-FAQ-Members List-Calendar-New Posts-Search-Quick Links-Log Out"
in a medium blue line, below the "CVP USERS GROUP" banner on the Forums page.

Hi
Auto Login has been workin the last two days.
Friday I deleted all cookies referring to cvpug.com and shut down the pc.
Saturday morning I had to give my username and pw at the first visit.
At the next visit Saturday evening Auto Login worked fine.
And today (Sunday) it still works.
Regards
Jørgen
Auto Login now works with my desktop. However it does not with my laptop. The laptop uses windows xp and internet explorer 6. I tried to find the cookies for the CVPUG in the laptop using windows explorer but I could not. Could someone please explain how to find the cookies in xp so that I can remove them. I even searched hidden files.

Autologon not working again today. I just went to delete my cookies and found 13 of them from cvpug.com! Wow! Cookie monster! ;)
I'll see if it works tomorrow.

Don't know for Win XP.
In Win 2k cookies are stored in the
C:\Documents and Settings\(YourUserName)\Cookies
folder.

Hey Danny,
Now I see the link "New Post", I was looking for it somewhere else.
The cookies in Windows XP are also stored in:
C:\Documents and Settings\(YourUserName)\Cookies
I have wiped the cookies on my laptop (windows xp) using Realtime cookie and cache cleaner program. Still the Auto Login does not work. The unfortunate part with this program is that it deletes all cookies and does not show what you are removing.
I tried the Auto Login 2 more times and now it seems to work!!!!!!!!!!

It took me a while to get back to this, so my apologies for the delay. All pale blue links have been changed to a purple. People may not like the new color any better (everyone has their tastes), but at least it won't be so hard on the eyes!

One thing I missed about the old group was a "New Posts" link on the login page.
I can now see one. Has it just arrived or was it there all the time. Maybe the change of colour makes it stand out better.
