View Full Version : Larger working memory (RAM capacity)

I would like the new generation of CVP's to be equipped with more working memory.
By this I mean of course a larger RAM capacity (at present set to 120 KB in all CVP 3XX), in order to be able to manage more complex songs (e.g. symphonic pieces, concertos for soloist and orchestra, etc.).
This feature is also related to the CVP capability to dynamically convert a midi file into the notation displayed on the screen, which is presently limited by the amount of available working memory.

I would like increasing memory in my cvp-309.
I have a computer (genious) friend. He's very-very sharp in anything dealing with computers.
Because he's visually imparred, only 33, (a KID?) to me. He spent his life learning computers. I'm 62 and had many computer tech's work on my computers. I love fooling around with computers. The problem is when I'm done tweaking this or changing that I need an expert to fix it.
In ten years of hiring computer tech to fix or install for me, not one could even come close to what my friend can do. I'm serious.
Anyway I told him to order the best of the best in quality my hardware, drives, memory, case, programs etc, etc and today I have super computer. I still mess things up on a regular basis but thanks to this man he fixes my goof ups.
I've taken him under my wing and help him get around, loan him money, give him money and called the state to provided him with all the services he's entitled to.
Anyway, to make a long story longer......He wants to get inside my CVP and see what's in there. He want to add memory and God knows what.
He enjoys playing the cvp and does very well playing it. He can't see the options so I set him up with a sound he likes. Anything mire than three inches from his one good eye is fuzzy. Makes me feel blessed to have the body I have and a little ashamed when I hear myself gripe about what I don't have.....could be worse.....
So, if you, or any tech savy computer whiz knows if I can download the specs. or purchase the tech manual please let me know.
Just think! I could wind up with a CVP built like race car. Full blown 454 fuel injected, jet fuel piano. And then again....I could wind up with a cvp case and nothing inside but burned out parts.
I'm just checking for now. Before I actually turn my cvp over to this young man I willl make sure he knows what's tweakable, upgradable or impossible. To him it's multi=channel, multi-upgradeable computer.
I'll keep you posted.......Thanks, Paul M White, Goodoboy....at times!
Thank you and have a great day.

I really doubt that the CVP's are upgradeable in any appreciable way.
As far as memory goes, even if you were able to solder in pin compatible flash ram, I suspect the OS would most likely not be able to address it.

My Friend listened as I read your reply over the phone.
His comment: He's right!
