(These are all too big to upload, so I've included links to them)

"Take Me To the Pilot" - I tried to capture (unsuccessfully) a bit of the flavor from some live performances I've heard. It's always been one of my favorites. The ending is my lament that Elton just doesn't write 'em the way he used to:

"Tiny Dancer" - I'm working on this one - a friend is going to play some steel guitar for me, and another friend may sing it. I have some trouble with polyphony on this one. If I turn off track 4 (a string track), it plays ALMOST hiccup-free on my CVP-209:

"Ticking" - this is just a piano track. My turntable hasn't worked for years, so it has been quite some time since I heard it. So this is from memory (I have a good memory, it's just short - LOL!). I think the real McCoy has at least one more verse/chorus, but as an instrumental, it's already plenty long:

Having been to a Elton John gig in the last few weeks, I just wnted to congratulate you on these tracks. They bring back some nice memories of the evening. I think your effort to capture the mood is great.

Keep up the good work.

PS Have you any more EJ tracks?

:)

Thanks much for the kind words, Glenn! I don't have any other finished ones recorded right now, but am working on "Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding". A guitarist offered to help me finish it the other day, and I'm working on getting somebody to sing it. The midi is in pieces, but I'll post them when it's done - maybe somebody can figure out how to glue them together. Here's a couple of clips of what I have so far (no synth intro yet, and I have more work to do on these):

part 1 (another guitarist did a track on this):

Making some progress on "Funeral for a Friend". I used the Wind effect and Ocarina, with my expression pedal to pitch bend a bit, and a Tubular Bell for the very beginning. I used a variety of synth voices and pads for the synth intro, and then glued the recordings together with what I had done previously:

I finally finished "Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" last night. I may tweak the mix a little, but this is essentially it. I got a lot of help from my friends - one guy played guitar, and another did the vocals and bass. Everything else came from my CVP-209. Glad to have this done - it's my all-time favorite song, and I've wanted to do this for 30 years.

I finally wrapped up this rendition of "Tiny Dancer" last night. I did some tweaking to my original tracks, and got a lot of help from my cyberjamming friends for the vocals and the steel guitar. Hope you like it:
