HELP!!!

I am running into a series of problems with the AW16G (Digital Audio Workstation)...

I own a Yamaha Clavinova CVP-207, and what I have sequenced, is the bass, drums, strings,& melody on my CVP-207.

Now ,when I am ready to go to record my sequences to the AW16G, this is where the trouble begins...

Here is what I am doing:

First, I select the mic/line input that I want to use... ("Mic/Line 3-4")
Then, I go to my CVP-207, and shut off any track numbers that I DO NOT want recorded...track 2,3,4,5,....I only tell it to turn on track 1 (bass guitar) and SHUT OFF the OTHER tracks on the CVP-207. (drums, strings etc...)

Then, I check the level(s) going out from the CVP207 to the AW16G; making sure that it reaches 0db on the AW16G WITHOUT any clipping.

Then I click on (Direct) RECORD, & select Input & Track number.
Then I make sure that the level are equal-or-close to 0db.... and then I record.
After the finished recording, I go to turn off the selected input & track.

Then I go back to my CVP-207, and TURN OFF track 1, and TURN ON track 2,
making sure that the other Tracks are SHUT OFF on the Clavinova.

Then I make sure for the next track the stereo level & input equals 0db.

Then I choose the SAME INPUT ("Mic/Line 3-4") and a DIFFERENT TRACK location,
and then I set the track fader to 0db....and this is where I am getting CLIPPING/DISTORTION....

So what am I doing wrong? This has been bothering me ever since I had purchased this recorder because the first-track recording comes out fine, but then next recording (overdub) comes out distorting & clipping, and all the levels are set to 0db....

So I REALLY would appreciate it if somebody could tell me how to correct this problem...
Also,
Should I be using DIRECT or BUS Record?

Many Thanks,
And Please Respond back...

Sincerely,
Mitch Meier
