I would like to record from my CVP209 to my Macintosh. I was considering buying Roxio's Toast software for ease of use when it comes to CD burning, but I am wondering what would be the best way to transfer the audio from the instrument to the computer.

I have a DAT recorder. Could I record to DAT and then use the Mac's 1/8" sound input to record the material? Would there be a loss of sound quality as compared to going from the Clavinova directly to the computer? Or should I get some type of interface?

Thanks for the help.

Just get a Y cable that has RCA jacks on one end, and a 1/8" stereo jack on the other end. Hook the RCA jacks to the Line Out on the CVP (which is the unamplified line-level out), and go straight into your Mac.

I've found that I have to set the Song volume in the Mixing Console to somewhere in the range of 50-60 for piano voices, and I also set my Master EQ pretty flat. Otherwise the recording is too bassy and hot.

sorry...forgot to ask...can anyone recommend a basic software app to record audio on Mac OSX? I don't need a whole lot of editing capability at this point (probably in the future) so something stripped down and even shareware/freeware will do the trick for now.

hi tim
even if i'm running logic audio 5.5 on my mac, i often work with an application called "Audacity" for simple recordings. it contains a lot of plug-ins like noise reduction, compressors, eq's, etc. and best of all: it's free :)

you can find it by follow this link: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/mac.php

hope this helps!
