My two kids learn piano. Til now they have played on acoustic AUGUST FÖRSTER piano, and I recently bought Yamaha CVP-403. Both instruments are in the same room side by side. I'm curious will their teacher that give them lessons comming into our appartment accept new digital piano or will insist on acoustic one!?

Firstly I tought that she (she is middle age woman) would assert acoustic one but some things give me hope that she could love digital one as well. However we will see tommorow, she's comming ... hm. :-)

Good luck. Probably depends whether she's a 'purist' or not.

In Australia, the Music Examinations Board accepts Clavinovas up to Fourth Grade. I recently bought a new CVP-307, both for me to play on (I learnt to play on Electone's back in the 70's and 80's) and for my daughter to learn on (she's 7). Some of the sales people were very keen to push for an acoustic over the Clavinova, saying that I'd have to buy an acoustic if my daughter wanted to go beyond fourth grade. I'm happy to cross that bridge when I come to it. In the meantime, seems to me that the Clavinova is going to keep everyone's interest longer than an acoustic.

Incidentally, thanks to all who provided comments about the differences (or lack thereof) between the 300 and 400 series. I got the CVP-307 at around a 50% discount to the list price. Seems to make more sense to get the 307 than the 403 (which is about the same price).
