View Full Version : What's the name of that built-in piano demo piece?

You know that slow piano piece in A-flat major that the CVP-207 (and maybe other models?) plays for its "Piano Sound" demo? With those extremely high chords that only someone with Franz Liszt-sized hands could reach that descend down the scale while the left hand plays ascending arpeggios? (Wow, music doesn't translate to text very easily.) The first one that plays when you hit the "Demo" button and then the "Auto" softkey (I think, not in front of it now)?

Anyway...

I'm wondering if there's a way to get the Clavinova to spit it out to floppy disk in MIDI format, and if anyone knows if it has a name. (Was it an existing piece, or was it written by Yamaha??)

Thanks!

Hi

To get access to any of the demos like this, you do the following:

Hit the SONG button - you should see Demos and Songs displayed. Select Demos (you'll see Voice, Style and Function), and then Function - the one you want is Function_01 (it's a poor name!) - when you select the demo song this way, you should see the sequencer lights flash once. This action copies it to the on-board sequencer, and then you're away... you can save to Floppy as normal.

Mike,

Did you actually copy the song to a floppy disk? When I followed your instructions I got the following STOP message: "Serial copy protection enabled! Function_1.SOO1.mid cannot be posted to the floppy disk."

I was able to copy the demo song to the user file, but again when I tried to copy that file to a floppy, I got the same STOP message. I believe all the demos and built-in songs cannot be copied to a floppy disk. :(

No I did not try that :-(

I was going to suggest hooking to a MIDI sequencer... I will try tomorrow and tell you what happens. I would expect these MIDI songs to be output to MIDI out on the CVP, so can be captured easily enough.

Ohh eck. I tried but the demo does not output MIDI.. so it cannot be captured like that. Sorry for misleading you!
