I just reviewed the specs and it looks like the only major difference is USB. The rumor was the 208 and 210 would have the wood keys like the 900 but they don't--just saw one today. If I upgrade to the 210 they want $1,700 and my 207. Again, is USB worth it--I'm thinking not but maybe someone knows something I don't. Yamaha still didn't address video out. Roland has a direct connect to flat screens monitors. I just don't get this release?

I have a question related to yours. What is the purpose of the new USB port? If it allows for storing midi files on something better than a floppy disk I'd say it was worth getting. I have only had my CVP207 a relatively short time, but have already accumulated nearly 100 floppies filled with midi files. Trying to keep them organized so I can find the music I want is a nightmare. I won't upgrade to a newer model CVP until Yamaha comes up with a higher capacity I/O device or hard disk storage.
It's a shame that such a good instrument musically is crippled by a weak operating system.

For those who have the 208 - there's this nifty little device you can buy for around $80 CDN that plugs into a USB port and acts like a portable hard drive - storing up to 128 or 256 mb(whatever you pay for).
For those less computer-inclined, that's 128 to 256 floppies :)

I don't want to record anything I play--so again USB is not a big deal for me.

Hi All
IF, the CVP's had a HDD then the USB would be a god send. This would allow fast backup and file transfer between PC and the CVP. But it doesn't. So the only reason for the USB, IMHO, is to replace the midi ports and allow you to use the CVP from a laptop.
I have large collection DOC and Pianosoft not to mention hundreds of odd floppies cramed with midi files. Many, too many, with no lables on so the only thing left for me to do is to backup all of the floppies onto CDrom.
Having put them onto CDR I can then play the CVP from the PC via the midi ports.
So far I have only managed to backup the Yamaha disks, but one day I will start on all the unmarked floppies.
I have a program, still under development, that will play Yamaha Pianosoft disks as well as Midi files. This works like a Midi Player but is mainly for Pianosft disks.
So, I will NOT upgrade anymore untill Yamaha get with it and put a HDD into there CVPs. If they can do it for the TYROS then why not for the CVP?
