Dear CVP users
I have a 407 and when I select the button "Piano reset" (when paying with midi song orchestra for instance) I can't during the song change to another instrument after Piano reset has been selected. Maybe this seems to be normal but i need to re-start my instrument before being able to select another sound...(is it a bug ?)

For instance, when also using music finder+ and loading a record presets, some presets change the voice when changing variation (A,B,C,D), then if you don't want to change the voice and stay with a piano voice, then Piano reset is useful, but if after selecting Piano reset, the CVP do not allow you to change "again" to another voice...the piano voice seems to be blocked.

I hope i have been clear enough (english is not my mother language...)

Regards,

Franck

Hi!

I think I understand what you mean. With "piano reset" you mean the button next to the Data Entry wheel and Enter button right? Shaped like a grand piano.

I don't have a 407, I have a 309, but I can change voice after having used that button, so it could be a bug that you should bring up with the dealer who sold you the piano. Although you say during song play - for me it stops playing when I press that button. Which for me is OK, as it isn't meant to be used as instrument selection, but to reset ALL settings on your piano. If you want to change to the GrandPiano1 voice you should simply select it like the other voices you select.

By the way, that the voices change when you select different variations, means you have 'OTS Link' on. It should be a button far to the left; below the Volume knob on the 309. If you unselect that it will not change voices but keep your piano voice playing.

Hi,

I have a cvp 407, and after I press the piano reset button I can then pick other sounds and styles. It might be a bug in your piano.

Are you sure you are not pressing the button and holding it to turn it into piano mode?? But thinking about it it asks if you want to go to piano mode.

I will play about with it later.

Gentlemen
Thanks for your answers... I really appreciate.
I still have the same problem... meaning that Piano reset (the large button to set the clavinova to piano in one shot) is still block and i can't change to any other voice...
I will try to make some different tests and come back to you with a clear configuration when this problem occures. Then you can test the same process within the same configuration to see if the voices are blocked...
I did not update the firmware yet... I know Yamaha has issued new firmware to update, but i don't think it is related...
Best regards
Franck

Although it seems that this is not the cause of your problem, I hope that you know for piano lock mode. When you press PIANO RESET button and keep it pressed for 3 seconds, CVP goes into piano locked state where you cannot change any other setting (change voice, use style, etc). In order to unlock it you have to press PIANO RESET button for another 3 seconds.

Dear CVP 400 users

Thanks you very much for all your advices. I would like to submit a concret exemple of what i consider as a problem on my CVP 407....

Yesterday I tried the following action :
- I dowloaded from internet (IDC) a song
- I've started playing with electric piano (was already set up)
- In the middle of the song, I pressed "Piano Reset" (quick punch) in order to change the voice to Gran Piano on a quick way, but the song stoped at the same time (actually positioned in pause)

The thing is that i though that "Piano Reset" was proposed to switch very quickly to a piano voice during playing (or even before playing) but the problem is that when a midi file is playing, the clavinova stop it as well when selecting Piano reset to change the voice to piano...

Best regards,

Franck

Hi!

Yes, that's how it's supposed to work. I mentioned before that it is a reset, meaning that it resets all your settings on your CVP. The use is intended partly as a "panic" button, when there are too many settings active that you don't want. Since many of these have been set by the MIDI file, the MIDI file will also stop playing. It is simply not to be used as a shortcut for selecting the piano voice in that way. You can use it that way only if you are playing just yourself. If you want to change a voice, you have to select the instrument group and the instrument you want to change to. Or if that's too much of a hassle, you can create a registration memory for it - they are indeed intended to be a one click voice selection.

Piano reset button is ideal for classic piano teachers dealing with new "digital monsters". If they feel insecure with this monster, then they can use this secret weapon. ;-)

Hi!

And also undo unwanted changes by the pupils... Which is the same reason why the repeatedly above mentioned lock function is there as well; so children can't make changes to your settings that you don't want, while you're out of the room.

The only pity is that even metronom (tempo tap) does not work while CVP is in piano locked mode!

Oh, I did not know that. Yes, the metronome should be available even in locked mode I think.
