I'd like my CVP to turn off and on when I close or open the keyboard lid respectively.

There an awful lot of times I want the keyboard cover open and don't want the piano turned on. Especially for cleaning purposes.

It could be wired to switch on manually and turn off when you close the cover.

I have often wondered if it is best to turn the instrument off each time that a person is done using it or if it is better to leave it on all day like a computer. I always turn mine off when I am done playing it even though this may be many, many times each day.

I used to have an old Yamaha Electone E-5 organ, which powered itself off if you closed the lid without turning off the power switch. That would be a nice option to have on the Clavinovas. And while we're at it, why doesn't Yamaha make a lock for their lids? If the hotel I work in decides to buy a Clavinova, I don't want any Tom, Dick or Harry to just open it and play it with their grubby fingers.

Something for you to think about, Yamaha  .

Some people might want to play Midis with the cover closed ;-)
The most flexible approach is always the best,so leave it as is.

Ok here is my wish, I want a dimmer for the screen. It is to bright especially in dimmed environment and when you dont use the screen. Or, even better, a detachable high resolution LCD screen as it is state of art nowadays even with cheap computers ;-)

Hi!

The most flexible approach is to have both, that's what I want. I think that most of the time when you open or close the lid you are planning to play/stop playing. If you want to clean, you can then easily switch it off again using the switch.

How is that different from the LCD Contrast knob to the top left of the screen?

Hi Danny,

How is that different from the LCD Contrast knob to the top left of the screen?

That changes contrast, but not brightness.
I like to play in dimmed environment with only a lamp for the sheet. That gives much better concentration ;-)

I dont know how the newer Clavinovas behave, I still have a CVP 96.

However, what I feel is that the inbuild fixed screen is outdated.
There should be a bigger detachable screen. That could display the score adeqately, and could replace a lot of status leds, and could display the beat number and the recognized chord big and prominently all at the same time.
Could also have a colorized big display to replace the guide LED's

Ok, I am dreaming... Just had to buy a new car and cannot afford a new clavinova currently *g*
