Hi
We bought a new CVP 405 last week, I notice that Grand Piano "reset" button doesn't give us the right grand piano sound. I have to change the right1 balance from 100 to 127 to get the grand piano sound or have to keep the master volume to maximum feel the grand piano sound for the right keys. Whereas for the other voices I don't have to do that. Is something wrong with my equipment?
I want to see if anyone has noticed this or Am I doing something wrong.
Keeping the master volume to maximum is not a good idea because if play a song with the piano, I ear drums are blown away.
I did try the factor reset too, that didn't work either.
thanks

I have to change the right1 balance from 100 to 127 to get the grand piano sound ...
"Piano reset" button restes all settings - this inscludes volume settings as well meaning that reste button returns all other volume valuse to 100 (normalized volume). This is normal behaviour.
... or have to keep the master volume to maximum feel the grand piano sound for the right keys.
If your volume setting was 100 before "piano resetting", after resetting it should have the same volume level.

Hi!
The thing is he says it is only with the piano voice, not the other voices... He also mentions certain keys, but I don't quite understand the meaning here.
I believe the 4xx has a new GP1 sample, which in theory then could be quieter than the old, and perhaps even the other voices. Only people with 4xx could say if that's the case. Otherwise it sounds to me that it could be something wrong - go back to the shop and compare with their instruments, and talk to the sales person about it.
And in any event, please don't use the reset button as a quick way to select a piano voice; it is not intended for that. If you want GP1, select it the same way that you select other voices.

When I use the pianoshaped button on my cvp-405 I can NOT get out of the PIANO MODE. I have to turn the CVP completely OFF to use the style section again, in other words a REBOOT.
In simple english if i use the piano shaped button to go to full keyboard piano mode, I can not go back to STYLE mode by as one would assume repressing the Piano shaped button. I have to RESET the CVP by turning the CVP OFF and then turn it back on.
Is this a software/firmware problem?? BTW I do have latest firmware update 1.20, with working internet IDC.

Hi Cooknl
The Piano button is purely for full piano no split.
To get back to style mode just press music finder then a song, or a registration button .

Hi!
And please also note that if you keep the piano shaped button down long, it will lock the piano so you can't make any other selections. This is a child safety feature.

OK Guys thanks for the info, and it works on mine 405
But to me it still dont make sense, in my opinion it should work as follows,
A) Push Piano button (short push) 405 goes into Full Keyboard Piano mode.
B) Push Piano button (short push) a second time, 405 SHOULD go back to STYLE mode.
C) Push the piano button for 3 sec or longer piano mode locked and no further pushing will afect mode, until RESET.

Hi!
Well, as you've noticed A and C do indeed do those things.
B, however does not work that way. And that is because of a misunderstanding of the purpose of that button. It is not to be used for selecting voices or setups (such as split keyboard "style modes") quickly. The Registration Memory buttons are for doing that. The original intended purpose of this button was to provide a way out in case you were lost in settings that you didn't want, but didn't know how to fix all of them back to defaults - hence the actual name of the button is Piano Reset.
What you suggest in B would mean it getting reset to settings that you don't want (when you use the button as intended). As an example, if your PC is acting up and you reset it, and then reset it again, you don't want it to come up with the same non-working settings again do you?
Please think of this button as a reboot. Not a quick way to select voices, styles, modes, or anything like that. This is explained in the manual as well. To use the PC analogy again, it would be like using Restart every time you want to close all windows in order to see the desktop, and then expecting all windows to appear again when you restart the PC after that.
