I get over a dozen applications every day for new memberships and I don't get around to reviewing them every day. That means that when I do sit down to review the applications, I have to go through several dozen at a time.
Out of those several dozen applications, there will be only one or two legitimate applications in the whole bunch. The rest are automatically generated by spam bots. That's why I don't go through them daily.
So, here's what I look for when I review applications for approval. I look to see if you have provided enough location information so that I can tell where on this globe you live. If you tell me you live in Springtown, USA, I will reject it. If you tell me you live in Springtown, VA, USA, I will accept that and go on to the next field. If you tell me you live in London, I will reject it. If you tell me you live in London, UK, I will accept it.
If you passed the first test (above) I will look at the "Interests" field. If you put something in there that looks like an actual interest, I will accept it. Things like music, running, bowling, football, cooking, etc. will be accepted.
Hopefully, Sean will someday install a field on the application where you have to type in the letters that appear in a box. Then I will be able to set it back to automatically accept all applications. But until then...
Thanks.
