The rightmost (sustain) pedal of the 3 pedals on my CVP 207 Clavinova has begun to make a "squeaking" noise when pressed. The noise sounds something like a spring that is being stretched. I tried lubricating oil and it did not help. Any suggestions?

It's probably dust -- that's my guess. If it was mine, I'd take the pedal board off the piano (I know it's a hassle because you have to lay the instrument down on it's front) and take it apart and clean all the parts. Then I'd spray a very light coat of "Wonder Drug 40" (WD-40) on the springs before I reinstalled them.
At least with this approach, if it's not a dust problem, this process will let you see what the problem is.

Hi!
Thank you for clunking another piece of a puzzle in place into my brain. I've always wondered what WD40 stood for. Although, what's the 40 then?
(And for that matter, what's with 7-Up?)

I too, have used "Water Displacement formula #40 (the real name....it took 40 tries to get the formula) on my squeaky sustain pedal with good results.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. Jonnykeyboard: Did you take apart the pedal mechanism (and have to put the entire piano on its side as suggested above), or did you just spray into the mechanism itself.

Hi Sam'
I just sprayed and hoped for the best. If it had not worked, I'm sure I would have done as suggested because the squeak was DRIVING ME CRAZY.
