I have a couple of large pieces of lint in the upper left of my CVP-207 screen--stuck on the inside. Normally you can't see them, but sometimes they get in the way of the view something.

Does anyone know I can properly clean the inside of this screen myself? There seems to be no access to this area.

I'm not sure about the 209, but on the earlier 9x and 10x models you can remove the control panel, unscrew and remove the LCD, and get to the inside of the screen. I would imagine the 20x series is constructed the same way.

You should purchase the service manual for your instrument. It should run you about $40 (USD) and you can order it directly from Yamaha Customer Support. It will give you step by step instructions for how to take your instrument apart to get to any part of it. This is a very valuable resource when you accidentally spill cola or orange juice on your keyboard and you need to get it cleaned up before it dries. (I am the voice of experience!)

Thanks, Wally. I just ordered a service manual for the CVP-207 today ($34.09 + 5.05 S&H = $39.14 total for me). I'm sure that I will learn a great deal about the instrument this way. This manual covers the CVP-207 & CVP-209.

So where can I order that service manual?

I tried the Yamaha service page, but I get lost there....

Call 1 (800) 854-1569 - Yamaha Service Dept. My price was $34.09 + 5.05 S&H = $39.14.

Wally—I now have the service manual for my CVP-207. The main thing I notice is that there are many, many things in there that I have no business touching (and I'm an electronics guy). The whole thing is super-complicated, and one wrong move by me could mean the end of my CVP-207 working.

Anyway--to access the LCD screen it says to: 1) Remove the Top Board Assembly (p.12, Procedure 4), then 2) Remove the Key Cover Assembly (pp. 13-14, Procedure 7), then 3) Complete the Panel Assembly removal steps (p.14, Procedure 9, steps 9-3 and 9-4). Then I should have access to the LCD to remove the lint and dirt at the top of it.

Do I really have to do all of this? The obvious problem comes when I am trying to reassemble all of this and close my CVP-207 up. Even putting the key cover back on correctly seems tricky.

Please refer to Procedures and page numbers in the Service Manual when replying. I am asking as part of this forum so we all may know.

If anyone has a CVP-207/209 service manual and had experience in the area discussed above, please feel to respond to the above question.

Sorry for the delay. I ordered the service manual for my 209 but it hasn't come yet. When I get it, I'll take a look at it. However, the description you quoted from the manual sounds very similar to the procedure for my CVP-96, which I actually took apart a couple of times. The procedure wasn't as hard as it sounded from reading the manual.
