I recently purchased a CVP403. I would like to use some program on my computer (such as Digital Music Notebook or something equivalent) to run Piano lessons that I could interface with the CVP403. From the manual I see how to do it with a wired midi connection. My question is: Can this be done with a wireless connection? If so, how?

Just to clarify: I am not asking how to make an IDC connection. The question solely relates to connecting a computer to the 403 wirelessly.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

... to run Piano lessons that I could interface with the CVP403.

I'm not sure what lessons you're referring to!?

From the manual I see how to do it with a wired midi connection.

In CVP-403 manual there's even no word "lesson". Could you point me what are you talking about?

It seems to me that you'd like to create CVP-to-Computer (ad-hoc) connection without router between, wouldn't you?

The materials accompanying the 403 directed me to the website www.digitalmusicnotebook.com. They have many downloads that are supposed to be compatible with the 403. Some of them are instructional such as the following:
http://www.digitalmusicnotebook.com/index.php?cmd=product&type=digitalbooks&category=Instructional&page=0&subject=Instructional&productid=1010638&

When you install the Digital Music Notebook program and then download a file (such as the lesson above), it will work together with the 403 thru a direct midi connection. My question is: can you make the same connection wirelessly somehow?

I use a virtual serial port over IP to transmit midi over my Wifi.
See these threads:

Since then, I've seen better seamless solutions such as this one:

I have recently purchased 407 and was interested in wireless playing of midi files from my laptop to cvp 407. Reading the forum I purchased wireless midi air and have received it couple of weeks ago. However, I am lost how to connect this device correctly to cvp 407. So far the usb connection to laptop seems to be the receiver and wireless midi connector to cvp is the transmitter. This seems to be backward. Seems usb connector needs to be the transmitter in order for laptop to send midi information to the cvp 409. I am lost as far as what I will need in terms of software and hardware link to send the midi information from my laptop to cvp407.

It might be possible if you buy two more items:
1. usb-midi interface cable (Midisport 1X1 from M-Audio would work)
2. single midi cable

Plug the transmitter into the interface cable
Plug the interface cable into the computer
Plug one end of the midi cable in to the receiver's midi out terminal
Plug the other end into the CVP's midi in terminal

In theory this should create the scenario you want. From a technical perspective I will let somebody else step in chime in as to whether or not the midi communication would function properly that way.

Personally I would rather find a solution that is designed for a two way midi interface.

Well that sucks. Why they only have the USB on one end of that is just plain cheap. But hey, I didn't even realize it had ANY usb ports.

So yeah, you'll need the Midi/USB dongle for the PC (I have an extra one if you want to buy it from me). Also, you don't really need the usb B/B cable since you can use the 5-pin DIN (MIDI plug) on the CVP side - (my 207 does not have USB so I always use ACTUAL midi connectors ... go figure).

The reason I added the usb B/B cable is because it looks to me like the receiver transmits wireless single only through the usb port and the midi in/out are for hard wired transmission only. Now that I have re-read the manual I see that this was not the right conclusion. I editted my previous post to reflect your observation. Either way you have to have another cable, though.
