I am purchasing my first piano (digital piano). I had ordered and paid for the ebony 403 new for £2.2k. Last week I went into my local music shop and they showed me a preowned (3years old) ebony 309 for £3.2. Now I find myself in a decision dilemma, they advised me the spec is much higher and the 309 looks like a m uch nicer peice of furniture. I would really appreciate your views and opinions as I am a beginner, who has a passion for music and a desire to learn and play the piano well, I would rather spend the money now and get a very decent piano but I cannot afford £5k for a 409. Any opinions? Thanks all Jess xx

Hi!

Welcome in the User Group!

You may find it useful to have a look at the CVP comparison table, accessible among the FAQ in the main page of the CVPUG site

(http://cvpug.com/srbot/CVP.htm)

Personally, I should advise you to go for the CVP309, for the following reasons:
(1) more polyphony levels (very important for complex multi-track recordings whenever there is a lot of sustained passages);
(2) more sampling banks;
(3) better display screen (the 640x480 resolution makes the score much more readable than the 320x240 one);
(4) larger internal memory (useful to store songs and user-defined voices, styles, settings, etc.);
(5) better speaker system;
(6) more voices.

In addition, I personally prefer the position of buttons of the 3XX series with respect to the position of the same buttons in the 4XX series.
In fact, in the former case they are grouped toward the centre of the main panel, whereas in the latter case the buttons are positioned in a more scattered way, in fewer rows, from left to right, along the whole length of the panel.

Best regards,

Hi!

I agree.

But please don't crosspost, Jessica. It is rude to force everyone to read your question 4 times.
