I am the proud owner of a CVp-207 but it is too big for GIGS. Anyone have a suggestion on a portable that will almost give me similar features?

Thanks!

I would recommend checking out the Yamaha Tyros. This is designed to be portable and uses the same operating system as the CVP, so you will feel instantly at home with it.

The only limiting factor is the keyboard is a couple of octaves shorter than the CVP. As long as you are not a pianist that uses loads of fancy runs up and down the keyboard, this is a small sacrifice for an instrument that is about half a ton lighter than a CVP!!

Nothing to say against the Tyros. But it has nearly the same price as your CVP 207.

May be that also one class lower can satisfy your needs. So have a look at the CVP 2100. It is very near to the CVP 207/209 - same style format, same registration format (but not exactly the same voices - so it may be that you have to revoice).

Look at http://psrtutorial.com - there is much to read about PSR 2100.

And if one more class lower is enough - than there is the PSR 1100.

Only a correction.

I first wrote CVP 2100 - that's a mistake - it is the PSR 2100.

I have a CVP209. I enjoy it so much, I actually have it transported to other sites when I'm playing somewhere else.

I looked into a portable equivalent. The closest one I found was the PSR-2000, which may have been upgraded to the 2100.

I make extensive use of the music database, so I had the following problems:
1. The PSR does not have the CVP's Music Finder Style folder.
2. Although I could transfer styles I had created, they got renumbered. Again, the music database couldn't find them.

So I came to the conclusion I could use the portable only if my music database was static. It's not, so I gave up on the idea.

However, if these aren't problems for you, the PSR should work.

I'd be very interested in finding a portable that has a follow-the-lights feature that I could take on business trips. Any ideas?
