Because of the "key" I always prefer to play in I set the split point of both S+L to E2. This enables me to include the lower note into the right hand melody. I would like to make this permanent uintil I decide to change it. As it is every time I leave one preset rthyum to another the split point moves back to it's initial setting...and I have to reset it again to my liking. Is there some way to keep the split point where I want it.

Yes, that's possible, you can lock some settings. I don't know what instrument you have, but this is the procedure for my CVP-303:

"
Parameter Lock
You can “lock” specific parameters (e.g., effect, split point, etc.) to make them selectable only via the panel controls—in other words, instead of via Registration Memory, One Touch Setting, Music Finder, Song or incoming MIDI data, etc.
Call up the Parameter Lock display ([FUNCTION] → [I] UTILITY → TAB [√]
CONFIG 1 → [B] 3 PARAMETER LOCK). Select the desired parameter by
using the [1π†]–[7π†] buttons, then lock it with the [8π] (OK) button.
"

(page 122 of the never used Owners Manual :D).

Many thanks Eric....I am a new member and a new player of a 307....
I don't read music and can play anything I know using the black keys with E2 the bottom note of my playing notes.
I did as you suggested and it works fine....You are a champion!
