I bought a CVP-405 and i need help.
The instrument recognize MIDI archives. And Encore archives?
While i am playing a music, the monitor doesn't show the notes i am playing. Why?
Thanks.

Hi!

A couple of answers to your questions.

(1) As far as I know, Encore is a composing and publishing tool aimed at managing musical notation in scores, similarly to many other editing tools (e.g. Harmony Assistant, MidiNotate, Sibelius, etc.). The CVP does NOT recognise the publishing format of any of these tools, but ONLY their midi output (if any).

(2) The SCORE function of the CVP is not aimed at showing you in real time what you are playing on the keyboard. Rather, it serves to visualise on the screen the score corresponding to an already-recorded midi file. Therefore, if you want to see what you have played (e.g. an improvisation on the piano), first you have to record and save it. Only after that the SCORE function, applied to the newly-generated midi file, will show you the corresponding score. You can then let the CVP execute it for you and see the score you have created roll before your eyes on the screen.

Many wishes of enjoyment on your CVP!

Best regards,

If you can hear something then there is something :-)

On "monitor" one can see one or two staves (although many of us would like to have four at least) with notes from one or two music channels respectively. There are 16 channels with notes. Of course, some of them could be empty. You should set up your "monitor" to show channels with notes not empty ones. By default Yamaha shows channel 1 and 2 and your song is probably saved on other channels. In SCORE screen there is Setup button for setting up which channels should be shown on first and second staves.
