Hi All,

Can someone recommend a program to convert mp3 files to midi that retains the track info so follow the lights and music score sheet would work properly? I am thinking about buying one and wanted to know if anyone had success doing so without having to fiddle with changing tracks.

Thanks!

Hi!

You can find some useful information about your problem in this old thread:

There´s not soft to mek ti ok. Search a midi professional and pay for make a midi from an audio files.
Other idea is save the file in a pen drive an play alone! You CVP can play audio files! or connect an audio player like an iPod to the input jacks (this is my options!! because i have a CLP270)

Best regards!

Hi

You will have to trust me on this. Even if you could afford the bigest and fastest PC in the world, it would still sound poor and you will spend hours if not days correcting it.

With all due respect, just think of what you are asking the program to do.

Not only does it have to do a turn each sound into a frequency. It has to filter out each part into a seperate track.

The only thing on the planet that can do that is the brain. Even the brain has to be able to have perfect pich and be trained.

Sorry, but you are asking a 21st centry computer to do what a 18th centry 6 year old could do.

Hmm, so a 17th century kid could not do it? ;)

Well of course he could but I don't know any.

Who were you thinking of?

You don't know Bach or Händel? (They are both immortal you know)

Yes I do, but I didn't think they were know for doing that. I was thinking more of Mozart.

This software is announced for end of 2008.
The process will not be automatic, but requires human interaction.
Its quite exensive..

Yes. Mozart is of course the first that comes to mind. But I think I read somewhere that Bach had shown some musical prowess as a child. I'll just argue then that Mozart could do it when he was already -57 years old. He was a very musical glint in his father's eye. Who of course was not born yet either.

That is still just a program for analysing a single instrument, just like all the other MP3 converters. He even says so in the video on the site (towards the end). That is FAR from converting an MP3 with multiple instruments to MIDI. Just listen to my last contribution in the Creations forum for instance - can ÝOU say exactly which 16 instruments I am using in each bar? The AI necessary to do this is possible, but still far off. Any claim today for being able to convert any MP3 to MIDI is just sales tactics.

Yes you are right. But...
At least it should be able to convert a polyphonic piano piece into midi.
That was not possible before

Hi!

Actually, I tried a software two years ago that could do that. Don't remember the name right now. But there are several programs that can do it. There was a thread about it here. All of them claim to be unique, but none can truly convert any MP3 to MIDI but they like to insinuate they can. That was MidiMagic's point as well.
