My new CVP 900 was just delivered today! I'm really interested in using the Karaoke features with friends. Can someone point me in the right direction for where I can start collecting Karaoke files.

Thanks,
Harry

Hi!

Been monitoring this group for awhile. Just got a CVP-205 and am loving it!

You can get a ton of free Karaoke file at:

http://www.koolpages.com/karaoke/

They come in ZIP files that you need to unzip once you download them and then choose the files you want and transfer them onto a floppy disc.

Most of the files I've used have sounded incredible!

If anybody knows of any other similar sites, please share!

Best regards, Peabody Boy

Harry,

On this forum main menu, go to "Web Links" and open it. Then open "MIDI Related Sites" and finally go to "Tons of Midi Files and Midi Karaoke Files." You will find over 2,000 karaoke files to download. I have found that they can NOT be used with Vocal Harmony" because chord information doesn't affect the VH function. You might have better luck than I.

Wes

PS: Thanks Peabody Boy for the great web site you listed.

Thanks for all the info on Karaoke songs. I went to the first link on the MIDI website listing page, but it says that the site has gone out of business due to possible copyright infringement. Is it legal to download midi karaoke files? I was under the impression that these were just versions of songs that other users had created themselves and uploaded to the page. With the recording industry suing people who download MP3 files, I certainly wouldn't want to download something that it is not permissible.

Thanks.

I'm not qualified to give you legal advice, but if you follow my post you'll get what you originally wanted.

Although I also am no legal expert. My thoughts are that the website owner would perhaps be the one liable for having a tune posted for the world to download.

However, if you are extremely concerned about this issue, there is another way to pursue your Karaoke dreams the "legal" and, of course, expensive way.

Visit the following Yamaha site and it is full of many different types of software on diskette for your instrument. Included in the offerings are Karaoke discs.
