I'll be the first one to enter an introduction. :D
I traded a grand piano for my first CVP (a CVP-96) back in 1998. I loved the piano capability (sound and feel) and played it exclusively as a piano for about 6 months before I began to mess with the other features. Once I starting using the other features, I fell completely in love with it! The problem was, there was no one around who could help me learn how to use all the buttons. My dealer didn't know much about the CVP and the manual was inadequate.
My dealer gave me the name of Dennis Stanfill, who was a top-notch consultant for Yamaha USA, so I contacted him. He and I became acquaintances and he helped me understand some of the features and how they can be used together.
I started collecting email addresses of people, including Dennis, as I ran across folks who also had CVPs. I started an email discussion group where people could ask questions and Dennis would help them with the challenges they faced. This is how the CVPUG got started. Eventually, Sean Cover bought a CVP and found our group. Sean is an internet service provider and he offered to help me put the CVPUG on the web, and that's how the CVPUG came to it's present form. None of this would have been possible without Sean's generous help!! Thanks, Sean!
Now I own a CVP-209 and I think I'll be happy with this one for quite a while.
Anyway, as for me.... I live in Texas. I'm divorced, but I have an awesome daughter (10) and two incredible boys (13 & 15). Besides playing the CVP, I am into stargazing in a somewhat big way. I love camping and hiking and riding four-wheelers, dirt bikes, and jet skis (anything fast).
I'm a bit of a nerd. I help a friend of mine run a business in Second Life and she's actually making real money at it. :p
I am proud to work in the renewable energy field.
That's me. Wally
