I have a CVP-50 but have only ever owned one Disk Orchestra Collection that the dealer gave me when I bought said piano. I'm guessing that they;re pretty hard to come by nowadays.

Are any of the newer disk collections, available today, compatible with the CVP-50?

Hi

I once owned a CVP50 and had a great time with it.

In a nutshell the answer is yes. If it is a DOC then it will work.
However all of the new files will be in the Midi file format which, from memory, the CVP50 will NOT play. I have not seen a NEW DOC Title for years.
One good thing about Yamaha is that they insist that their hardware and software is always forward and backward compactable.

I don't know where you are from but I'm in the UK.

In the early days there were about 60 DOC titles and they were all from Japan. Then all of a sudden a lot of titles went OUT of Stock. It turned out to be, (I belive) due to copyright issuses.
Then they introduced the European Disk Orchestra (there were 44 of these) and the Japan DOCs are now hard to come by. In fact any DOC disk are hard to find. At least here in the UK.

As the CVP50 can NOT play back midi files you are restricted to the DOC disk.

Please mail me direct I may be able to help.
